Free Royalty Launches Travel Academy to Bring Filmmaking and Creative Learning to Underserved Communities
Free Royalty has officially launched its Travel Academy, a mobile educational initiative designed to bring filmmaking, photography, and creative arts training directly to underserved communities. The first stop on this exciting new journey took place in Denver, Colorado, where Free Royalty hosted a two-day, hands-on creative experience for both kids and adults eager to learn the art of visual storytelling.
Day 1: Inspiring the Next Generation at East High School
The first day of the Travel Academy was held at East High School, in collaboration with the Carey School of Basketball. The program welcomed children ages 5 to 11, along with their parents, for an immersive introduction to filmmaking and creative expression.
Participants learned the fundamentals of filmmaking, photography, and acting, while also exploring exciting hands-on activities like drone operation, on-camera speaking, and interview techniques. Kids were encouraged to think creatively and express their ideas visually, while parents were engaged in learning how to support their children’s creative pursuits.
Free Royalty instructors guided students through the basics of concept creation—helping young minds understand how movies, shows, and digital content all begin with a single idea. By the end of the day, students had gained new confidence in storytelling and communication, while parents left inspired by the creative energy of their children.
Day 2: Empowering Adults in Aurora, CO
The second day took the Free Royalty Travel Academy to Aurora, Colorado, where the focus shifted to adults interested in film and television creation. This session offered insight into the business and creative process behind developing entertainment projects—from crafting an original show concept to pitching ideas and auditioning effectively.
Attendees learned practical tools for show development, presentation building, and industry pitching techniques, while also exploring the fundamentals of auditioning for on-camera opportunities. The environment encouraged collaboration, idea sharing, and the confidence to take the first step toward creative entrepreneurship.
A Mission in Motion
The Free Royalty Travel Academy is part of Free Royalty’s broader mission to bring film education and creative opportunity to underserved communities.
